Still there is no German publisher for Buka Entertainment?s Pacific Storm, but negotiations are still running. We are sure that a contract will be signed soon. Fortunately we where able to get a beta version of the game, so we can tell you what to expect. First impressions gamaXX had the great opportunity to test the game in the final beta version. These are our impressions: The intro to the game promises a lot already. The drawn, but realistic appearing graphics gives you the desire to see more. You will be seeing different attacks, spectacular explosions and feel the authentic atmosphere of the game. What more you need for the start into the world of World War II. You side with either Americans or Japanese and try to defeat your opponent in sea and air battles. Before you enter the actual game you can choose to play the campaign, one of the given maps or if you want to take part on a historic battle. As an example you can attack Pearl Habour joining the Japanese or you can defend it. You can also have the task to throw the atomic bomb on Nagasaki or try to prevent it playing the Japanese. If you don?t like the given options you can also create your own battles. Therefore you start the editor, choose the map and allocate units to both factions. For fun we tried a map with many units against just one carrier. The map ended fast, so be sure to balance the units accordingly, to make a map interesting. Important economy part with lots of details The arrangement of the own army and base is very complex and for us very hard to see through at least in English. When you have built your base there are four resources available. Iron, aluminium, oil and money. Iron is needed for ship building, aluminium for air units, oil is refined into fuel and money ? as in real life ? you need for everything. Iron and aluminium is mined in your base by building a factory. The more factories you build, the faster the resources flow into your pocket. But the economy part is designed very complex, so that beginners might have some starting problems. If you have played like Civilization 4 or other game simulating economy you will find your way to handle it in a short time. If you think that is all you have to do to manage your base, you are wrong: Over and above that you need to recruit units, send engineers to different spots and upgrade your base further. With these upgrades you can equip your machines with new weapons and all sort of extras. For beginners, it would be nice if the AI would take over some part of the economy features.
